Immigration Pathways
There are various legal pathways for nursing professionals from abroad to enter Germany. Depending on the individual situation, this may be done within the framework of a recognition procedure or to take up qualified employment (e.g. under §16d or §18a of the Residence Act). Which option is suitable depends on the individual recognition status and requirements.
Responsible Authorities
Various authorities are involved in the immigration and recognition process. These include in particular the responsible recognition bodies, the foreigners' authorities and German diplomatic missions abroad. They review documents, issue permits and accompany the legal process.
Public Migration & Integration Counselling
In addition to information from private service providers, publicly funded advisory services are available. These provide neutral support on topics such as migration, integration, life in Germany and (depending on the agency) also on work and rights.
Political, Social & Religious Participation
In Germany, there are diverse opportunities for social participation. Nursing professionals can use clubs, cultural activities, sports facilities and religious communities to make contacts and integrate into everyday life.
